Ayushmann Khurrana comes in to support his upcoming film Pati Patni Aur Woh Do amid the ongoing backlash.

The 41-year-old actor, who has been making his mark in the industry since his breakthrough in Vicky Donor, reacted to the ongoing speculation.

At the trailer launch of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, the Andhadhun star clarified that the film does not endorse "infidelity."

During the event on Saturday, May 02, he said, "The film is about what happens between the four characters... At the same time, I think my character, Prajapati Pandey, is a green flag. He is a complete green flag, his moral compass is absolutely right. We are not promoting infidelity because it is a family film. Everyone will enjoy watching it. It is just a comedy of errors. There is nothing in it that suggests Prajapati is having an affair with anyone. There is nothing like that at all."

Alongside Khurrana, Rakul Preet Singh, who is playing one of the lead roles in the much-awaited project, addressed the audience.

Reflecting on the misconception, Rakul, 35, explained, "The film doesn't promote infidelity or having affairs. This is a comedy of errors. And such mix-ups happen with many people... so you'll definitely be able to relate to it."

This comes shortly after the makers of the film were slammed on social media for glorifying infidelity.

The debate sparked after the teaser of Mudassar Aziz's directorial was launched on Monday, April 20.

One user commented, "Bollywood needs to stop turning seriously problematic issues into 'comedy.' Whether it's cheating, alpha-beta male dynamics, or toxic relationships, everything is packaged as humorous or glamorous. We can do better storytelling than relying on this cringe worthy content."

Meanwhile, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is the sequel to the 2019 original.

The upcoming instalment, also starring Sara Ali Khan and Wamiqa Gabbi, is all set to hit the big screens on Friday, May 15.
