Actor turned politician Vijay has pulled off what many in Tamil Nadu politics did not expect.

His party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, emerged as the single largest party in the state Assembly with 107 seats, pushing aside both the DMK and AIADMK, the two parties that have dominated the state for decades.

The result quickly turned into a major talking point in the film industry too, with actors and directors celebrating the 51-year-old’s political rise online.

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga also joined the list of celebrities who showered love on their colleague's historic victory.

The 44-year-old wrote on X, “This is what CINEMA can do, it can move people, shake systems, and turn presence into POWER. Here CINEMA stepping off the screen and owning the ground. Not hype. Not noise. Real power.…”

He also added, “My deepest heartfelt congratulations to @actorvijay sir and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.”

Actor Rishab Shetty called it “a new chapter in Tamil Nadu’s political history”, while Riteish Deshmukh described the victory as “incredible and monumental”.

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who worked with Vijay in Leo and Master, posted, “Badass entry and a solid win.”

Vijay announced his political entry in 2024 and spent months travelling across Tamil Nadu holding rallies.

He also stayed away from alliances, even as others joined bigger parties before the election.

As he gets closer to becoming the next chief minister, fans are also wondering whether his delayed film Jana Nayagan could truly become his last big-screen release.
