The hantavirus outbreak on a ship in Atlantic ocean ahs left many scared
An outbreak of the rare hantavirus on the cruise ship, MV Hondius, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean has left people on board petrified.
The people on board have been struck with intense panic as it has been revealed that three out of the many people on board have died from the contracting the virus.
As per the revelation made by the World Health Organization on Tuesday, it has been reported thet the virus’ spreading may have involved human-to-human transmission.
Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, WHO’s Director for Epidemic and Pandemic Preparedness and Prevention said “We do know that some of the cases had very close contact with each other and certainly human-to-human transmission can’t be ruled out so as a precaution this is what we are assuming.”
Two cases have been confirmed so far after three passed away while five others are suspected.
The three people who passed away were a Dutch couple and a German national.
Hantavirus affects the respiratory system and is primarily carried by rodents.
The cruise left the shores of Ushuaia, Argentina, last month and has 147 on board right now.
