Palash Muchhal booked under Atrocities Act case in Sangli
Police said the incident happened on November 22 near a toll plaza
Composer and filmmaker Palash Muchhal has again drawn attention as he is facing legal trouble after a complaint filed in Sangli led to a police case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
According to reports, the complaint was filed by Vigyan Prakash Mane, who is said to be a childhood friend of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana.
Police said the incident happened on November 22 near a toll plaza on the Sangli-Ashta road.
The dispute is believed to be linked to a film production project and money allegedly exchanged for it.
Reports say Vigyan Prakash accused Palash of not returning Rs 25 lakh that had been invested in the project. Things later turned tense during a confrontation over the matter.
Police have registered a case under Section 3(1) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act along with Sections 351(2) and 352. Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
Speaking to the media, the plaintiff said: “He assured me that the film would be completed in six months.
However, he turned out to be deceitful. When I asked for my money back, he evaded the issue. When I confronted him, he used derogatory language; I cannot even repeat it on camera. His attitude is quite troubling."
The case has also pulled public attention back to Palash Muchhal’s past relationship with Smriti Mandhana.
The two had earlier announced their engagement, but later confirmed their separation on social media after their planned 2025 wedding did not happen.
So far, no public response from Palash Muchhal has been reported.
