Indian billionaire Isha Ambani was one of the many attendees of the 2026 MET Gala that took place in New York on Monday, May 4.

The 34-year-old followed the dresscode “Fashion is Art” as she arrived at the fashion event of the year dressed in a custom Gaurav Gupta sari.

The sari, which is the traditional Indian attire for women, was “woven with pure gold threads by master artisans at Swadesh”, as per Vogue India.

However, the jewels worn by the heiress stole the show and has since sparked a discourse.

Isha’s blouse featured 200 mine-cut diamonds that were “hand-sewn across the bodice using stones from Nita Ambani's private collection.”

The back of the blouse featured Sarpech, which was once owned by the Nizam of Hyderabad.

Netizens believe a historic piece as such does not belong on a blouse but should be preserved in a museum.

One user wrote “This is why you need Class consciousness because this belongs in the Museum not on the blouse of billionaire heiress.”

Isha further accessorised her look by carrying a mango instead of a clutch or bag.
