Robert Downey Jr calls out modern age 'influencers' in subtle statement
Robert Downey Jr isn't happy that his son got caught up in 'whole influencer thing'
Robert Downey Jr has expressed his frustration over the common perception in the modern-day regarding influencers.
The 61-year-old actor, who is gearing up for the release of Avengers: Doomsday movie, has shared his two cents over the fame the influencers have gained in the digital era and how they are being considered as the stars of future.
Robert simply labelled the perception as “absolute horseshit.”
The Marvel actor said in a statement, “When I hear people talk about, ‘Oh the stars of the future are going to be influencers’, I Go, ‘I don’t know what world you’re living in, I think that that is absolute horseshit.”
Downey confessed that his son has also fallen prey to the whole influencer thing and he is not very pleased with it.
He continued, “My son kinda got caught up in this whole influencer thing, and really, it becomes like a religion… they’re almost the evangelical hucksters of the information age.”
Internet has been responding to his stance massively with fans supporting his opinion.
One of them, while seconding with the Due Date actor’s perspective, wrote, “He’s absolutely correct.”
“The influencer economy is based on rich kids that lack talent to sell garbage and a lifestyle that’s out of reach with the promise that “fame” is within reach to anyone with a phone—leaving out the pr team and talent management propelling them forward in an algorithm.”
Work wise, Robert is all set to reunite with the Russo brother for Avengers: Doomsday, slated to release on December 18.
