Sai Pallavi says she felt miscast in Junaid Khan’s ‘Ek Din’
However, Junaid Khan reportedly disagreed with her opinion and felt she suited the character
A quiet note from Sai Pallavi during a promotional interaction for Ek Din recently caught attention online. The Love Story actress shared that she had initially felt unsure about taking up the film and even believed she was not the right choice for the role.
The film which marked Sai Pallavi’s Bollywood debut alongside Junaid Khan, had been backed by Aamir Khan.
During the interaction, Sai Pallavi recalled speaking to Aamir Khan about her concerns regarding the role. She said, “I don’t think I was meant to do this, and I think I am miscast.”
She further added, “I feel so, I think it should have been a new person who had a little bit of flamboyance.” However, Junaid Khan reportedly disagreed with her opinion and felt she suited the character.
Sai Pallavi also explained what made her eventually agree to the project.
The Fidaa actress shared that she had been looking for lighter films after doing emotionally heavy roles in the past.
“It is not about the scale of a film that drives me,” she said.
She added, “At that point of time in my life, I had done a lot of films which were heavy, and I wanted to do something that was light.”
The Thandel actress further revealed that the script reminded her of the Hollywood film Before Sunrise starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy.
“So when the script came along, I thought this was going to be in the zone of Before Sunrise,” she said.
Ek Din had released recently and received mixed reactions from audiences and critics. The film also marked Sai Pallavi’s first Hindi-language release before her upcoming appearance in Ramayana.
