Tina Fey made a surprise backstage visit to longtime friend and collaborator Maya Rudolph following a performance of the Broadway hit Oh, Mary! on Friday, May 8.

The reunion took place at the Lyceum Theatre in New York City, where Rudolph is currently starring as Mary Todd Lincoln in the Tony-winning comedy. 

Fey and Rudolph, both former Saturday Night Live cast members, were photographed together after the show alongside fellow SNL alumni Emily Spivey and Paula Pell.

The group shares a long history of creative collaborations across film and television. Spivey co-wrote the 2019 comedy Wine Country, which starred Rudolph, Fey and Pell. 

She also created the NBC sitcom Up All Night, led by Rudolph, while Pell wrote the 2015 comedy Sisters, starring Fey and Amy Poehler, which also featured Rudolph.

Rudolph’s appearance in Oh, Mary! marks her Broadway debut, which began on April 28. Originally scheduled as a limited engagement through June 20, her run has now been extended to July 5 due to strong audience response and critical acclaim.

The production itself officially opened on July 11, 2024, and continues to play to packed houses. Alongside Rudolph, the cast includes Phillip James Brannon, Cheyenne Jackson, Bianca Leigh and Tony Macht.

The backstage moment highlights the ongoing creative circle of SNL alumni whose shared projects continue to span stage, film and television—now converging again on Broadway at a high point in Rudolph’s live theatre career.
