Mudassir Aziz recently clarified Ayushmann Khurrana's character in Pati Patni Aur Woh Do ahead of its release.

The Indian filmmaker, who garnered recognition for Pati Patni Aur Woh in 2019, addressed the audience amid the ongoing controversy.

In an exclusive conversation with HT, Aziz explained Khurrana's character in the upcoming film.

Speaking to the outlet, he said, "You are also challenging yourself. You have a quest to give the audience something new this time. I said to myself, 'How about if we make this subject extremely devoted to his wife and a civilzed man?'

"When B.R.[Chopra] Sahab tackled it, he did so in the context of changing times, when men were beginning to understand what working women around them would be like. Then, when I tackled it in 2019 (with the Kartik Aaryan-starrer), I talked about the boredom of marriage. It's not necessarily that the person is wrong, but sometimes communication breaks down between two people, and things can go wrong. So this time I said, 'Give yourself this luxury, let's make a Pati Patni Aur Woh in which the husband does not have a roving eye," he added.

Later in the conversation, Aziz shared that the Thamma actor is a police officer who loves his wife a lot.

This comes shortly after the much-awaited project sparked controversy following the trailer release.

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, also starring Wamiqa Gabbi, Rakul Preet Singh, and Sara Ali Khan, is slated for release on Friday, May 15.
