Ranveer Singh may play Lord Shiva in mythological trilogy
Ranveer Singh reportedly picks 'The Immortals of Meluha' for ambitious film universe
After the blockbuster spy thriller, Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh may be heading into the world of gods and mythology next.
The 40-year-old actor has reportedly picked up the rights to The Immortals of Meluha and is now developing it as a three part film series under his production house, Maa Kasam Film.
According to Pinkvilla, the project is still in its early stages, but work on the screenplay and world-building has already started.
The Dhurandhar star is said to be collaborating with Ananya Birla and Birla Studios on the adaptation.
A source told the portal, “Ranveer has been passionate about bringing Meluha to the big screen for a long time now. The acquisition happened recently, and the project is now officially under development."
The report also claims the Gully Boy actor could step into the role of Lord Shiva. However, the makers are not rushing to lock the cast or director yet.
“The director will only be locked once the script work reaches a certain stage. Right now, the focus is entirely on developing the material," the source added.
The first film is reportedly expected to begin production in 2028.
Before that, Ranveer already has a packed schedule with filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s next project and Pralay by Jay Mehta.
Away from films, Ranveer and Deepika Padukone are also preparing to welcome their second child.
A recently leaked clip from the set of King showed Deepika filming in South Africa while Ranveer looked after their daughter Dua nearby.
