Junaid Khan reacts to 'Ek Din' failure, opens up about Aamir Khan
He admitted that the romantic drama failed to connect with a larger audience despite support from Aamir Khan and his production house
A film’s box office performance often became a major talking point in Bollywood, and Indian actor Junaid Khan recently spoke about the response to Ek Din, which struggled in theatres after its release.
The Loveyapa actor shared that the team had expected the film to perform better at the box office. However, he admitted that the romantic drama failed to connect with a larger audience despite support from Aamir Khan and his production house.
During an interview, Junaid said, “Yaa film’s not done well. We were hopeful but I guess it didn’t do well. Hota hai kabhi kabhi.”
He further added, “It’s a film that I really liked and enjoyed. A lot of people did really like it but I guess most people didn’t really like it. It happens sometimes.”
The Maharaj actor also opened up about how Aamir reacted to the film’s poor theatrical run. According to Junaid, the senior actor had taken the failure personally because he strongly believed in the project.
Speaking about his father, Junaid said, “He is still moping. Even after all these years, after seeing all of it, it still really bothers him.”
He added, “But he keeps himself busy and goes back out there and does it all over again. He takes a film’s failure very personally, especially when he likes the film.”
Ek Din had been directed by Sunil Pandey and produced under Aamir Khan Productions. The film also featured Sai Pallavi and marked her Bollywood debut.
Reports stated that the film had opened with low box office numbers and collections continued to slow down in the following days. The romantic drama was reportedly a remake of the Thai film One Day.
The film had released on May 1 and became Junaid Khan’s second theatrical release after Loveyapa.
