Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli fit the best as Hannah and Garrett since the first moment they met on the Off-Campus set.
Bright and Cameli star in the lead role of the new Prime Video series, Off Campus, based on Elle Kennedy’s best-selling book series’ first book, The Deal.
On Sunday, May 10, at Creation Entertainment's Page, Screen and Everything in Between convention in Whippany, New Jersey, Cameli recalled that during the chemistry read, the production crew “wanted the tension and you could really feel it in the room."
"I remember the first time I met Belmont, we did the first kiss scene between Hannah and Garrett, obviously without the kissing," Bright told PEOPLE. "But it was really funny, because we would get really, really close and they would go, 'And cut!'"
“It was genuinely so much fun,” she says while recalling her chemistry read with Cameli, 28.
Away from the cameras, Bright says her bond with her onscreen love interest quickly turned into a close friendship.
“We have the best time together. He’s amazing,” Bright says. “We met during the chemistry reads, exchanged numbers straight away and have basically been friends ever since.”
The actress added that the pair grew especially close while filming the series’ long production days.
“When you’re spending 15- or 16-hour days together on set, you really have to become best friends,” she explains. “I admire him a lot.”
Off Campus premieres Wednesday, May 13, on Prime Video.
