Kamal Haasan says Vijay must be seen as CM, not a film actor
He stated that leadership roles were not limited by professional background
South Indian actor Kamal Haasan said that Chief Minister Vijay should no longer be viewed as a film actor, as he now carried full responsibilities of public office.
The remarks were made during a media interaction outside Chennai airport on Wednesday. He stated that leadership roles were not limited by professional background.
He said, “Vijay should no longer be looked at as a cinema actor. He has other responsibilities. A chief minister could come from any walk of life. I am proud that he has come from the film industry.”
His comments came after CM Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), emerged as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam had gained strong political attention following the election outcome.
According to reports, Haasan’s statement highlighted the transition of actors entering active politics and taking up governance responsibilities.
Earlier, Vijay officially took oath as the Chief Minister of the state.
Soon after the event, several film personalities shared congratulatory messages for the Sarkar actor on social media.
Kamal extended his wishes through a post on X (formerly Twitter).
He wrote, “May the country of Tamil Nadu shine under the leadership of the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, my family Thiru Vijay. May it reach new heights. I convey my heartfelt congratulations.”
R. Madhavan also shared a picture of Vijay on Instagram and wrote, “All the very very best my dear brother. May your tenure as the Chief Minister be the most rewarding and impactful for our State.”
