Barry Keoghan has finally addressed reports that his Peaky Blinders character, Erasmus “Duke” Shelby, has been recast in the franchise’s upcoming sequel series.

Creator Steven Knight revealed in October 2025 that he is working on two more Peaky Blinders series, continuing the story into the 1950s beyond World War II.

Reports confirmed last month that Duke Shelby has been recast once more, with Jamie Bell now taking over the role as the third actor to play Tommy Shelby’s son.

In chat with Variety, the 33-year-old Irish actor, who portrayed Duke Shelby in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, admitted that he will not be reprising his role in the sequel series.

"I pick projects quite specifically," he stated as he praised Peaky Blinders and called the film experience “incredible.”

"I carefully, cautiously pick because I just want to enjoy, and I want to heal, I want to tell, I want to find, I want to explore. I want to discover all of those things while I’m making a movie with people who are like-minded," the Saltburn actor added.
