Tabu calls out gender disparity in Bollywood: 'People are more worried about your age'
Tabu reflects on 'ageing' criteria for women in Bollywood
Tabu recently spilled details about the realities of Bollywood for women in the industry.
The 54-year-old actress, who is known for her powerful performances in several projects, opened up about the importance placed on a woman's age.
In a recent conversation with Harper's Bazaar India, the Haider star spoke about the pressure experienced by ageing women in the industry.
Speaking exclusively to the outlet, she said, "People are more worried about your age than you are yourself. They want to show you the mirror, as though you don't have one at home. The person answering that question hasn't aged overnight. We experience it every single day. It's not like one day someone wakes up at 20 and the next day they turn 45."
Later in the interaction, the Drishyam actress revealed that she is often advised to adopt industry diplomacy.
"You should not give a real reason for not doing a film," she added. "Give the excuse of dates and walk away. I didn't understand that. If I don't like the script, I don't like it. And I said so."
Tabu, who was last seen in Bhooth Bangla, is gearing up for Nagarjuna Akkineni's 100th film, King100.
For the unversed, she started shooting for Naveen (Ra) Karthik's directorial in April 2026.
