Diljit Dosanjh's citizenship reports spark buzz online
Media reports claimed that Diljit has been travelling on a US passport since September 2022
Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has become the centre of chatter again, but this time it is not because of his songs or films.
The 42-year-old is currently busy with his AURA World Tour 2026 in North America, and now reports about his citizenship have created buzz online.
According to a report by The Indian Express, the Crew actor reportedly obtained US citizenship in 2022.
The report claimed that he has been travelling on an American passport since September that year and visits India through an e-visa.
The report also mentioned that the Jodi star’s last Indian passport was issued in Mumbai in 2018, and before that, another passport was reportedly made in Zambia.
The newspaper also claimed that his wife, Sandeep Kaur, is a US citizen.
Moreover, while applying for American citizenship, the Naina singer had reportedly mentioned a five-bedroom bungalow in California as his home address.
These reports quickly spread in the media and on social media but the Sardaar Ji lead has not reacted to them yet.
The citizenship report came shortly after Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann spoke about the actor and politics.
While talking to the media on Wednesday, Mann said, "A few days ago, I heard that Diljit is being pressured by the Bharatiya Janata Party to join politics."
He further stated that Diljit had already clarified by tweeting that he is an artist and he is happy with his work.
On the work front, the actor was last seen in Border 2, which did well at the box office.
He will next be seen in Main Vaapas Aaunga, directed by Imtiaz Ali. The movie will release on June 12, 2026. It also stars Sharvari, Naseeruddin Shah, and Vedang Raina.
