Saif Ali Khan admits 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari' was copied from Hollywood's 'The Hard Way' without legal rights
Saif Ali Khan reveals truth about 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari'
Saif Ali Khan has been celebrated for his candidness in the film industry, as well as for leaving fans in splits with his witty responses.
The actor, currently gearing up for his upcoming film Kartavya, recently opened up about his film Main Khiladi Tu Anari, starring Akshay Kumar.
In an exclusive interview with Dainik Jagran, the Bazaar star revealed that the film was copied from the Hollywood film The Hard Way without taking any rights.
He recalled, "The first time I wore a police uniform was in the '90s in a comedy film. I was playing an actor who had to portray a cop. So, he studies under Akshay Kumar, who was playing a cop in the film. It was a fun movie, which we copied from an American film without taking any rights. We just lifted and copied the American film The Hard Way."
In addition, Saif also shared that his director advised him against playing a cop in films, and he swore by it until he was offered a similar role in Sacred Games.
"That fear always remained. Later, when I started playing cops, I think until Sacred Games, I always felt maybe I couldn't pull it off. I've grown up, and the fact that I can now play a cop is huge for me because that director used to laugh at me and say, 'Never do it,'" he added.
The Hum Tum star also reflected on spending a greater part of his life on camera. He shared that while he has learned a lot from his experience, directors are better aware of the nitty-gritties of the business.
