Virat Kohli has opened up about his plans for the upcoming tournament
Indian batting legend Virat Kohli has revealed his plans for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
While masses were anticipating that the 2023 tournament could be the cricketer’s last chance to secure the highly revered World Cup win, Kohli himself has confirmed that he wants to play.
The batter, who is currently playing IPL with his team Royal Challengers Bangalore, addressed the world cup plans saying he wants to “carry on”.
Speaking on the RCB podcast with Mayanti Langer, Kohli made it clear that he does not plan to retire before the world cup.
The athlete said “Of course, if I’m playing, I want to play cricket, I want to carry on. Playing a World Cup for India is amazing.”
Expressing his determination to the game, he said “If I’m made to feel like I need to prove my worth and my value, I’m not in that space. You want me to run from boundary to boundary for 40 overs in an ODI game, I will do that without a complaint.”
The 2027 event will take place later next year in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe and will be the last ICC tournament for many legends of the 21st century.
