Life often changed quietly behind the cameras, and Veteran Indian actress Zeenat Aman recently shared how one film became connected to a difficult time in her personal life.
The Satyam Shivam Sundaram actress had spoken about her 1989 film Gawaahi in a post shared on social media. Along with a behind-the-scenes clip from the movie, she reflected on the period when her marriage with Mazhar Khan had started facing problems.
She wrote that the film had come into her life shortly after the birth of her first son, Azaan. At that time, she had been living with her mother in Mumbai while balancing motherhood and work.
Talking about that phase, she said, “The rosy picture of domestic bliss that I had conjured up while at the peak of my career was beginning to fade.”
The Qurbani actress hared that returning to films had helped her during a stressful personal period. She explained that work gave her space to focus on something outside her private life.
“It was a way to escape my personal life and hold on to an identity beyond being a daughter, mother and wife,” she wrote.
Zeenat also described Gawaahi as an important project in her career. The courtroom drama had been directed by Anant Balani and featured actors including Shekhar Kapur and Ashutosh Gowariker.
Looking back at the old video from the set, she called herself a “comeback queen” and said the film had marked one of several returns in her acting journey.
In an earlier interview, the Dharam Veer actress had also spoken about the struggles in her marriage with Mazhar Khan. She had said that he faced serious health and addiction issues during that time.
