For years, people have watched Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walk the Cannes red carpet in glamorous outfits. But this time, many eyes were on someone standing beside her, her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan.

The 14-year-old made her red-carpet debut on Friday evening during L’Oréal Paris’ Lights on Women’s Worth awards at the Cannes Film Festival. 

While this is not unusual as she has attended the festival with her mother several times before, but this was the first time she properly walked into the spotlight herself.

For her first appearance, the star kid wore a ruby-red gown with a matching shiny cape. She kept her hair open in soft curls with a side parting. 

Soon after pictures and videos appeared online, social media users began discussing Aaradhya’s appearance at the event.

At the same event, Aishwarya changed into a pastel pink gown after earlier appearing in a dramatic blue outfit at Cannes. 

Her pink Sophie Couture dress featured floral work, Swarovski crystal details and a long flowing cape.

Videos shared online also showed Aishwarya holding the younger Bachchan’s hand while leaving the hotel and heading towards the venue. Fans gathered outside were seen cheering as the two arrived together.

There had already been a lot of curiosity around Aishwarya’s Cannes appearance this year after reports claimed she would attend only towards the festival’s closing days. The reason behind her late appearance was never shared publicly.

Still, by the end of the night, much of the conversation online had shifted towards Aaradhya, with many fans calling her Cannes appearance one of the evening’s biggest surprises.
