South Indian actor Ram Charan has apologised after a funny mix-up during the music launch of his upcoming film Peddi in Bhopal went viral online.

The 41-year-old actor attended the event with A. R. Rahman, Janhvi Kapoor and Divyenndu, where he was asked to describe famous Indian cricketers in a few words.

While speaking about legends like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the RRR actor’s comments received cheers from the crowd. He called Kohli “Fire” and described Dhoni as “calm and cool”.

But the moment quickly turned viral when Ram accidentally mixed up cricket and football while praising Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah.

“Jasprit Bumrah ji, I am your biggest fan. I love football and you are taking football to new heights. Love you, sir,” the Dhruva lead said on stage.

Soon after clips spread online, the actor posted an apology on X and called it a “genuine human error”.

“Uff I’m genuinely so forgetful with names sometimes. Apologies to @Jaspritbumrah93 Ji for the mix-up,” he wrote, adding that Bumrah makes “every Indian feel proud”.

Interestingly, during promotions of RRR, director S. S. Rajamouli had earlier joked that remembering names is difficult for Ram.

The  Zanzeer star will next be seen playing the lead role in Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana. It also stars Janhvi Kapoor as Achiyamma, cast includes Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Boman Irani and Divyenndu.

Bankrolled by Vriddhi Cinemas and IVY Entertainment, the film is directed by Buchi Babu Sana and is scheduled to release in theatres on June 4 in multiple languages.
