Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s action thriller Alpha could be heading to cinemas earlier than expected, as reports suggest Yash Raj Films is once again adjusting its release calendar.

The film was officially set for release on 10 July 2026. However, Bollywood Hungama reports that the studio is now planning to bring it to theatres on 3 July instead.

The reported move comes after Dhamaal 4 shifted from 3 July to 17 July, leaving a clear gap at the box office. 

According to Bollywood Hungama, a source said, “July 3 has emerged as an apt date to bring Alpha to cinemas since Dhamaal 4, which was scheduled to release on the same day, has now been pushed to July 17. With no major release planned for July 3, producer Aditya Chopra felt it was the right date to bring Alpha to theatres."

Trade observers believe the change could give Alpha a stronger run before competition arrives. 

Dhamaal 4 and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey are both expected on 17 July.

A trade insider told the portal, “Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is also releasing on July 17, along with Dhamaal 4. As a result, Alpha will now get two weeks to make the most of an open run at the box office.”

Yash Raj Films has not confirmed the reported date change.

Alpha is a key film for YRF’s Spy Universe, marking its first female-led story. Alongside Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, the film stars Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor.

Rumours of appearances by Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan continue, though neither has been officially confirmed.
