Love Island USA contestant Vasana Montgomery has reportedly been removed
Love Island USA contestant Vasana Montgomery has reportedly been removed from the show’s upcoming eighth season after videos resurfaced showing her using a racial slur.
Montgomery who is a 25-year-old business owner from Oregon was announced as part of the Season 8 cast earlier this week.
However multiple reports claim she was dropped from the series after videos emerged online showing her using the N-word.
According to Variety, the clips were originally shared on a private account meaning they would not have been visible during the show’s vetting process.
The development comes just days before the new season is scheduled to premiere on June 2 on Peacock.
Despite her reported removal Montgomery’s image remained visible in some promotional materials and cast announcement posts following the news.
The situation marks the latest controversy for the reality dating franchise. Last season contestant Yulissa Escobar exited the show after videos surfaced showing her using the same racial slur.
Later in the season Cierra Ortega also left after past social media posts containing a racist term directed at Asian people resurfaced online.
With Montgomery no longer expected to appear 11 contestants remain set to enter the villa when Season 8 begins.
Returning host Ariana Madix will once again lead the dating competition.
Ahead of the premiere the show’s producers also issued a message encouraging viewers to keep online discussions respectful and positive reminding fans that everyone deserves to feel safe and respected within the community.
