Kangana Ranaut has opened up about her parents’ reaction to her debut film Gangster, which left her completely heartbroken.

The Queen actress, who is currently gearing up for her upcoming film Bharat Bhagya, spoke at length about how her parents perceived the film industry, as they had been heavily influenced by the underworld.

In a recent interview, Kangana said she was heartbroken by their attitude despite having earned recognition for her notable work in the 2006 film.

She said, “They were not very okay with what I was doing, but they knew that I would figure it out by myself. After Gangster, my father did not even congratulate me. Instead, he said, ‘You are underage, and they made you do these scenes.’

“So I replied, ‘You only saw those scenes in the entire film?’ I was so heartbroken that this was how they perceived the film, because they were worried about what society would think. After that, I decided I would never expect any reviews of my films from my parents because they have never really watched films.”

In addition, the Krrish star explained that their honest reaction took a toll on her emotional well-being, and she eventually gave up on the idea of seeking their opinions on her films.

For the unversed, Kangana won a National Award for her outstanding performance in the same film.
