Euphoria’s finale left viewers divided over Bishop’s loyalty, but Darrell Britt-Gibson recently revealed what he believes was really happening behind that pivotal twist.

In chat with Variety on June 1, Darrel, who played Bishop, explained his character’s actions, saying, "Bishop didn’t agree with a lot of what Alamo did, but it was a job for him.”

"I think what Alamo did to Rue was the final straw for Bishop," he added.

As per the 39-year-old actor, losing Rue (Zendaya) became a turning point for Bishop.

“He’s also having that conversation with Maddy in the car. Rue was a bridge too far, and he’s like, ‘I promise I’m not going to let you get to Maddy,'" he explained.

Although some fans think that Bishop didn’t care for Rue, Darrel believes otherwise.

"There are a million different ways to look at it, from a character standpoint. It plays like he doesn’t care, but if you look deep enough, there are moments of Bishop being like a big brother who is hard on her,” he remarked.

Continuing, "You know those figures in your life who are like, ‘Don’t hang out with those people. Those are not good people. You shouldn’t be here.’ The way [creator] Sam [Levinson] wrote it is up to interpretation. He gives it space for it to be seen however people want to see it.”

The Fear Street 1 actor described Bishop as a patient strategist who had been biding his time, explaining that taking down Alamo was never impulsive but part of a carefully calculated plan.

In the May 31 episode of the HBO drama, Ali (Colman Domingo) arrived at the Silver Slipper with one goal in mind: avenging Rue’s death.

Ali cornered Alamo ((Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) at gunpoint before the two opted for an old-school showdown. The confrontation took a dramatic turn when Alamo’s weapon misfired as he aimed at Ali.

Viewers soon learned that Bishop had sabotaged the weapon by removing the bullets entirely, a move that ultimately saved him from Ali.
