Tom Holland has revealed the true reason why he has never hosted Saturday Night Live, despite being approached multiple times, pointing to his struggles with dyslexia as the main reason behind his hesitation.

Speaking on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast on Tuesday, June 2, the Spider-Man star explained that the live format and support on cue cards make the experience particularly daunting for him.

“I’m heavily dyslexic, which is one of the reasons why — and I’d love to talk to you today about it, actually, — is why I’ve never done SNL,” Holland said, referencing how the show’s fast-paced writing and last-minute script changes contribute to his concern.

He elaborated further on his difficulty with reading aloud under pressure, adding, “I'm just so petrified at the concept of, like, trying to read something and they change. It's just that, like, for me, I can read fine."

" But when I have to read out loud, it just becomes, like, a kind… It's, like, a mental block. And I can freeze,” he added.

Holland also shared that table read days on film sets are often his most challenging, explaining, “I will really try and highlight everything and learn my lines ahead of time. So that I'm more kind of skimming it than I am reading.”

Despite the anxiety, he said he has been invited several times to host SNL.

“I've been really lucky that they've asked me a few times to do it, and the truth is that I'm actually just really scared at the prospect," he said.

Holland added that,"I love the show, and I love the idea of having fun and making a fool of yourself in such a fun, creative way. It's just that thing of the cue cards.”

Poehler responded with reassurance, joking, “You have to remember, there have been people that have hosted that have been fully on drugs… I think you can do it.”
