Tom Holland explains how his alcohol battle sparked new venture
The ‘Spider-Man’ star reflects on alcohol battle and road to recovery
Tom Holland has shared insight into his past struggle with alcohol, which brought a series of challenges into his life but ultimately inspired a new business venture.
During a recent conversation on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, the 30-year-old English actor reflected on his drinking issues, revealing that his journey toward healing began when he took on the Dry January challenge in 2022.
“I decided to pack [drinking] in, and I got through that first year, which I think was the toughest challenge that I’ve ever been on,” Holland said.
While he managed to overcome his addiction, he learned that social gatherings rarely offered enough non-alcoholic options.
The Spider-Man star explained, “During that first year, I noticed that there was limited options for people like me, that were looking for something that would scratch that itch, that would help you live or go to the bar and be a part of the social experience, but not feel like the only person with a lemonade.”
The limited availability of non-alcoholic beverages ultimately motivated Holland to introduce BERO, his own non-alcoholic beer company.
“We believe well-being is holistic—it’s not about sacrifice, but about striking the perfect balance between pleasure and moderation. Inspired by our founder’s own journey, BERO is an invitation to experiencing life’s richness, fully, and without holding back,” BERO’s mantra reads.
