Indian filmmaker Karan Johar’s recent move on social media sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry and online platforms.

The 53-year-old director-producer unfollowed almost all Bollywood celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday, and even his longtime friend Manish Malhotra.

His action sparked a wave of theories on social media. Some users linked it to recent box office setbacks, while others wondered if there was tension within Bollywood’s inner circle.

However, after much of speculation, the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director broke his silence and called it a "digital detox."

“It's a DIGITAL DETOX!!!! Am unfollowing everyone to reduce my time and energy spent on the gram!!!” he wrote on Instagram Stories.

As of June 3, the filmmaker is following only 16 Instagram accounts, including those of his foundation and production house.

But the surprising part is that his following list still includes four actors from Pakistan.

Yes, Karan continues to follow four Pakistani stars, Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Ali Zafar, and Imran Abbas.

Interestingly, three of them, Fawad, Ali, and Imran, have previously worked with Karan Johar. Mahira Khan, however, has never collaborated with him, although she did appear in the Bollywood film Raees opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

Karan produced two Dharma Productions films featuring Fawad Khan, Kapoor & Sons (2016) and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016). The latter also featured Imran Abbas in a supporting role.

Meanwhile, Karan and Ali Zafar were associated through Dear Zindagi (2016), which was co-produced by Dharma Productions.

So far, Karan has not issued any further statement or clarification about why he continues to follow only these Pakistani actors. But the move has certainly left many fans surprised and curious.
