Ashoke Pandit responds to Ram Gopal Varma over Ranveer Singh 'Don 3' row
Ashoke Pandit had strongly reacted to Ram Gopal Varma’s criticism of the federation
The ongoing dispute around Indian actor Ranveer Singh and Don 3 continued to draw reactions after fresh comments from filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma and FWICE officials.
The controversy had earlier started when the federation issued a non-cooperation directive linked to the project. The decision had triggered debate across the film industry.
In a recent response, FWICE chief advisor Ashoke Pandit had strongly reacted to Ram Gopal Varma’s criticism of the federation. He had raised concerns over pending issues involving industry workers.
Speaking about the matter, Pandit had said, “Ram Gopal Varma himself has not given ₹1.25 crore to the industry, to our workers and technicians.”
He had further questioned the filmmaker’s stand on the federation’s actions, adding that the body was working to protect the rights of workers and technicians.
“If we issue a non-cooperation directive against you, you say it is illegal,” he had stated, while defending FWICE’s position.
The exchange had come after Varma criticised FWICE’s decision related to Ranveer Singh’s reported exit from Don 3. The Satya director had supported the Simmba actor and questioned the federation’s authority in the matter.
According to FWICE, the action had been taken after producer-director Farhan Akhtar raised concerns over financial losses linked to the project’s pre-production work.
The federation had clarified that its move was not a ban on any actor but a step related to professional commitments and industry regulations.
