Vicky Kaushal reacts to backlash over wedding joke clip
Vicky addressed the matter in an interview, saying that public figures cannot always be perfect
Indian actor Vicky Kaushal has responded to the online backlash he faced after a clip from a private wedding went viral, showing him making a light remark about married life.
The video, which surfaced earlier in March 2026, showed Vicky speaking to the groom’s father and asking him to get the groom to respond, “How’s the josh?” The audience replied, “High, sir!”
Vicky then said, “I had noticed that bachelors always keep high energy. For those of us who are married, that energy tends to drop year by year. But don’t worry, it doesn’t fade in just four days.”
Following the criticism, Vicky addressed the matter in an interview, saying that public figures cannot always be perfect.
He said, “There is no way that just because you're a public figure, you need to be perfect. Sometimes we do deserve the brickbats, and maybe the learning for me is that, as much as people are giving me love, it also comes with a certain sense of responsibility.”
The Sajnu actor further added, “No actor has gotten fame and not gotten the flip side of it. I made the conscious choice that I wanted to be here… And if the criticism is constructive, you can learn from it.”
The clip had earlier sparked debate on social media, where some users called the joke inappropriate, while others defended it as light-hearted humour.
Vicky, who tied the knot with Katrina Kaif in 2021, continues to remain in the spotlight for both his work and public appearances.
