Imtiaz Ali has shared a rare detail about Ranbir Kapoor's Rockstar as he takes a trip down memory lane.

The filmmaker, known for his highly-acclaimed films, took to Instagram to share an audio note featuring A. R. Rahman's voice from the sets of the 2011 film.

Ali revealed that the Oscar-winning composer had suggested that if the Animal actor could perform the entire album himself, it would be a great addition to the film.

The filmmaker recalled, "I remember AR Rahman sir had asked me during Rockstar whether Ranbir sings. If he could, then Rahman sir thought it's a great idea for him to sing all the songs of Rockstar. And I said, 'No sir, please don't even go in that direction.' And Rahman was like, 'Let's see how good or bad he is.' I had told Ranbir, and Ranbir had freaked out doubly more than me and he said, 'No, please. I never want to sing in front of him.'"

However, Ranbir rejected the idea and expressed hesitation about singing in front of the top-notch composer.

For the unversed, Rockstar also starred Nargis Fakhri, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Shammi Kapoor in key roles.
