Veteran filmmaker Pahlaj Nihalani no more; Funeral to be held today

Veteran movie producer Pahlaj Nihalani reportedly passed away today, at the age of 76 at his residence in Mumbai.

Producer Shashi Ranjan told News 9 that Nihalani hasn’t been doing great for quite some time. “Pahlaj ji was not keeping well. He was taken home from Nanavati Hospital where he breathed his last,” Ranjan said to the publication.

Nihalani was sort of known for making quite a few mainstream Hindi films during the 1980s and 1990s like it was kind of his whole thing.

A few of them are Haathkadi, Izaam, Aag Hi Aag, Paap Ki Duniya, Gunahon Ka Faisla, Shola Aur Shabnam, Aankhen, Andaz and so on.

Out of all these the ones people associate with him the most are Shola Aur Shabnam and Aankhen both helmed or directed by David Dhawan and featuring Govinda as the main star.

Later on, he went ahead and produced a few other films Uljhan, Talaash: The Hunt Begins, Hello Mumbai, Julie 2 and Rangeela Raja etc. His last movie turned out to be Anari Is Back which came out in 2023.

So according to a statement put out by Nihalani’s family the funeral will happen today at the Santacruz Hindu Crematorium around 3 pm.
