Shilpa Shinde defends confession on old TV show controversy
After viral podcast clip and facing criticism, Shilpa Shinde explains why she opened up about old dispute
Actor Shilpa Shinde not only opened a Pandora's box but also facing heavy criticism after her recent appearance in a podcast.
In the interview she made a shocking confession saying the sexual harassment allegations she made during her 2016 dispute with Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! producer Sanjay Kohli were false.
The 48-year-old actor, who won Bigg Boss 11, shared a video on Instagram saying her comments were not made for money or publicity.
She said her pending payments had already been cleared and she had long moved on from the show.
"I didn't do it for money. I had already left the show. I had already accepted the blame that was put on me," she said.
The Paurashpur actress explained that she decided to speak publicly now because of an incident that stayed with her. She recalled meeting a man after Bigg Boss who told her that his father had died by suicide after being falsely accused of something he had not done.
"He told me that watching my journey inspired him to keep living," she said.
The actor said she expected criticism but felt it was important to tell her side of the story. "I knew this was going to happen because the world never appreciates anything good," she said.
The Koyal of Chidiya Ghar said also said many people were reacting without understanding the circumstances behind her decision. "People laughed at me and abused me. But when you know you haven't done anything wrong, you don't fear anything."
The controversy dates back to 2016 when Shilpa left the popular sitcom amid a dispute over her contract and unpaid dues.
The show's producers accused her of being unprofessional, while Shilpa made complaints against the producers and claimed she was being sidelined in the industry.
The dispute was later settled and her pending payments were cleared. Despite the fresh backlash, Shilpa says she has no regrets about speaking out now.
