A fresh controversy has broken out after actor Shilpa Shinde admitted that she had made false sexual harassment allegations against producer Sanjay Kohli during her dispute with the makers of Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain.

The confession drew a strong reaction from actress Hina Khan, who called the revelation "absolutely shameful" in a statement shared on social media.

The 38-year-old actress wrote, "Yes, using your Sex to malign someone's image in order to win during a conflict is absolutely shameful." She said she was "shocked beyond words" and described Kohli as the "Real Victim." 

Hina also alleged that the accusations were used "to gain advantage, to win, to score, to claim, to settle without the utilisation of Law," before adding, "The joke is on us."

Soon after, the 48-year-old actress appeared to respond through a video shared online. Without naming anyone directly, she questioned why people were using her name for publicity.

"Log mere naam pe publicity gain karna kab band karenge," she said. Taking what many saw as a dig at Hina, Shilpa added, "Publicity gain karne ke liye aaplogon ke pas apni bimariyan hain, ghar ke logon ki jo death hui hai wo hain, to aapko kyu Shilpa Shinde chahiye?"

The video quickly divided social media users. While some criticised the actor and wrote "Shame on you", others backed her and said they supported her.

Shilpa also defended her decision to speak up after nine years, saying she did not want to continue living with a lie. "Main apne dil par jhooth le kar nahi jee sakti," she said.

The actress further claimed she had evidence to support her version of events and said she was not afraid of criticism for speaking what she believes is the truth.
