Grace Gummer shares toughest performances of her career
The actress said she was left drained after repeatedly filming a heartbreaking scene
Grace Gummer has revealed that filming the finale of Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette left her emotionally exhausted describing it as one of the most demanding experiences of her career.
According to Gummer Murphy directly encouraged her to join the show assuring her that the project would be worth it.
The season finale focuses on Caroline Kennedy learning about the deaths of her brother John F. Kennedy Jr. his wife Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and her sister Lauren Bessette following their tragic plane crash.
Gummer said preparing for the scene required her to dig deeply into her emotions while also maintaining the technical discipline needed for the performance.
The actress revealed that the sequence took around ten takes to complete.She later admitted she was emotionally drained and unsure how much more she had left to give.
However director Anthony Hemingway continued encouraging her to push forward believing she could still deliver an even stronger performance.
While the role came after a persuasive call from Murphy the actress acknowledged that the experience challenged her in ways few projects ever have resulting in what she considers one of the most emotionally demanding performances of her career.
