Indian filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming romantic drama Main Vaapas Aaunga has already received positive attention ahead of its release on June 12. Content creator Aaliyah Kashyap revealed that she watched the film twice and was even more impressed during her second viewing.

On Monday, Aaliyah shared a poster of the film inside a cinema hall on Instagram. She wrote, “Main Vaapas Aaunga in theatres this Friday. A beautiful and hard-hitting story with powerful performances and amazing music. A story very important and relevant today. This was my second watch and I loved it even more this time. 10/10.”

Earlier, ahead of its release, Main Vaapas Aaunga received its first reaction from Indian television and film producer Ektaa Kapoor, who shared her thoughts about the film on social media.

Kapoor had described the film as emotional and memorable. She wrote that she took time before sharing her review because she did not want to “get a single word wrong.”

She said, “A film that the world is going to witness in June, I got to experience in May.”

Recently, A.R. Rahman performed live at the Attari Border during a special Beating Retreat ceremony titled Jai Ho – A Musical Salute to the Bravehearts, which also served as a promotional event for Main Vaapas Aaunga.

Imtiaz said about the event, “I am privileged to be a part of this troupe, and it is magical that this event is around Main Vaapas Aaunga, a film that originates from the making of the border during the Partition of 1947. Not only homes and lives were lost, but hearts were broken as well. We bring a message of love because, ultimately, only love sustains us.”

The film featured an ensemble cast including Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari and Vedang Raina standing beside Diljit Dosanjh.

Main Vaapas Aaunga has scheduled its theatrical release for June 12 2026 through Applause Entertainment backing from producers Sameer Nair and Deepak Segal and Mohit Choudhary and Shibasish Sarkar from Window Seat Films.
