'Bhoot Bangla' OTT release date announced
After a decent box office run, Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla heads to OTT
Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, after spending nearly two months in cinemas, is preparing for its next stop, online streaming.
On Thursday, Netflix announced that the film will premiere on June 12.
Sharing the news on social media, the platform wrote, “Zor zor se bolke sabko dara do (side eye emoji) Bhooth Bangla mein jald entry hogi (bat and blast emojis) (Scream and scare everyone, you will soon enter the Bhooth Bangla) Watch Bhooth Bangla, out 12 June, on Netflix.”
This announcement immidiatedly drawn fans' responses. “Eagerly waiting to watch it again,” one user commented. Another wrote, “Finally wait is over.”
Some viewers also asked if the film would be available in South Indian languages, while one fan joked, “Chlo membership restart krne ka samay aagya (Time to restart my membership).”
The film was released in theatres on April 16 and received mixed reactions from critics and audiences. Still, it managed a steady run at the box office.
According to trade website Sacnilk, Bhooth Bangla earned Rs 181.93 crore net in India and Rs 269.22 crore worldwide during its 55-day theatrical run.
Apart from Akshay Kumar, the film features Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, Wamiqa Gabbi and Mithila Palkar.
The film also marked the return of one of Bollywood’s popular director-actor partnerships, reuniting Priyadarshan and Akshay years after hits such as Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhag and Bhool Bhulaiyaa.
