Emraan Hashmi film shoot faces protest in Haridwar over ‘Cafe & Bar’ signboard
The set reportedly included a signboard carrying the words “Cafe & Bar,” which led to concerns among some local residents
A film shoot involving Indian actor Emraan Hashmi drew attention in Haridwar after reports emerged of objections to a signboard that had been placed as part of a set.
According to reports, the production team had created a temporary restaurant setup for filming. The set reportedly included a signboard carrying the words “Cafe & Bar,” which led to concerns among some local residents.
A video from the location later circulated on social media. The clip reportedly showed an argument between a group of locals and members of the production team. Security personnel were also seen at the site as efforts were made to calm the situation.
Reports stated that some residents objected to the use of the word “Bar” because of Haridwar’s religious significance. The disagreement reportedly began after locals noticed the signboard that had been installed for the shoot.
Emraan did not appear in the viral video. No official statement was issued by the actor regarding the reported incident.
The title of the project being filmed in Uttarakhand has not yet been officially announced. However, several videos of Emraan meeting fans in the state had surfaced online in recent days.
On the work front, the Haq actor had been preparing for the release of his upcoming projects. His film Awarapan 2 recently completed production, and the makers shared the update on social media.
In a post announcing the wrap of filming, the team wrote, “OGs know this isn’t just a wrap. He came back for you. In cinemas August 14.”
As of now, it remained unclear whether the Haridwar shoot was related to G2 or another project that had not yet been announced.
Awarapan 2 is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on August 14, 2026.
