Dani Dyer has joined the line-up for Strictly Come Dancing a year after she was forced to withdraw from the BBC show when she broke her ankle during rehearsals.

The TV personality and daughter of actor Danny Dyer had appeared in the launch episode last year but pulled out before the competition began after being injured in training.

The 29-year-old said she is “so excited to be back in the ballroom this September” and said she is hopeful this time she will make it to week one.

“I just cannot wait to get my dancing shoes back on and hopefully this time around I can actually make it to week one,” she said in a statement.

Dyer fractured her ankle when she “landed funny” during rehearsals with professional partner Nikita Kuzmin.

She was replaced last year by actress Amber Davies another former Love Island winner who went on to reach the Strictly final.

Since recovering Dyer went on to win Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins and appeared alongside her father in The Dyers’ Caravan Park.

She also has 3.7 million Instagram followers and is married to West Ham striker Jarrod Bowen.

Shirley Ballas welcomed her return posting on Instagram: “Welcome back @danidyerxx.”

Comedian Josh Widdicombe also reacted to the announcement, writing: “YES DANI!!!!”

Widdicombe will host the new series alongside Emma Willis and Johannes Radebe, following the departures of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

Dyer is the second celebrity confirmed for the 24th series of Strictly which is expected to begin in September.
