Farhan Akhtar has been praised for his transformative performances in past films like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Toofan.

Now reports suggest that the 52-year-old Indian star will be taking on another challenging role.

The actor and filmmaker is close to finalizing talks with Neeraj Pandey for a R.D. Burman biopic, which will celebrate the legacy of Pancham Da, according to Pinkvilla.

Sources further revealed the film aims to serve as a grand cinematic tribute to one of India’s most beloved musicians.

"Neeraj Pandey has been developing the RD Burman biopic for a while now, and the writing work is progressing at a rapid pace," a source revealed. "Farhan Akhtar is in talks to play the legendary composer and is extremely excited about the prospect of bringing Pancham Da's journey to the big screen."

"If all goes according to plan, he will undergo extensive preparation to get into the skin of the character," the insider added.

Several of R.D. Burman’s iconic songs have been licensed by the makers and are set to play a significant role in the narrative.

"The team has secured rights to the classic RD Burman tracks that defined an era. The idea is to create an authentic and emotionally rich homage to the genius of Pancham Da. Music sittings have already begun to bring the best versions of the original songs," the source further stated.

The biopic is reportedly going to be directed by Neeraj Pandey and co produced alongside Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, with production expected to begin by year end.
