Disney has taken another step toward its plan to fully integrate Hulu into Disney+ hinting that the standalone streaming service may be nearing the end of its independent run.

The move follows Disney’s long-running effort to combine its streaming services after completing its acquisition of Hulu in 2025.

While Hulu remains available as a separate app for now Disney previously announced plans to create a “unified app experience” and phase out the standalone service sometime in 2026.

Under the latest update Hulu users can connect their profiles to Disney+ and continue watching content seamlessly across both platforms.

Subscribers will also be able to access Hulu content through the Disney+ app using the same login credentials with no additional charge for eligible plans.

Disney said the change is designed to create a simpler viewing experience as the company continues working toward a fully integrated streaming platform.

The update also introduces support for linking adult profiles allowing personalised recommendations and viewing histories to carry over between services.

Although Disney has not yet announced an official shutdown date for Hulu the latest changes suggest the merger process is continuing behind the scenes.

Additional Hulu features including Live TV and certain premium add-ons, will remain exclusive to the Hulu app for the time being. However Disney indicated those features are expected to move to Disney+ at a later stage.

The company is also preparing to launch new Disney+ features including a live content guide designed to help subscribers find ongoing programming more easily.

For now Hulu users can continue accessing the service as normal but Disney’s latest update offers another clear sign that the streaming platform’s future is becoming increasingly tied to Disney+.

As the integration expands viewers may soon see the two services function as one bringing Disney closer to its goal of creating a single destination for entertainment, live programming and sports content.
