Farah Khan reveals how Tees Maar Khan’s poor performance broke her success streak
Farah Khan opens up about her mental health following ’Tees Maar Khan’ release
Farah Khan has opened up about the only film of her career that failed to perform at the box office as she took a trip down memory lane.
The filmmaker, best known for the hit film Om Shanti Om, spoke at length about her mental health following Tees Maar Khan’s poor box office performance.
In a candid discussion on Shekhar Suman’s chat show, Farah recalled how everything reminded her of Tees Maar Khan at the time because it was the first film that failed to meet her expectations.
She recalled, “Before Tees Maar Khan, I had no period of gloom. Everything I was doing was clicking. Tees Maar Khan was the only time I so-called ‘failed.’ Now, of course, it has become a cult film.”
She also revealed that the criticism took a toll on her mental wellbeing and that she was unable to process the pain for a long time.
“It was very painful, and yes, at that point I was devastated. I got out of bed only after one week.”
Farah said that although social media wasn’t as widespread back then, she faced intense trolling on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The director added, “Luckily, there was no social media back then. There was only Twitter, and the trolling I faced there was on another level. I felt terrible because everything eventually gets back to you.”
For the unversed, Tees Maar Khan starred Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in key roles.
