Seth Meyers has revealed which of his former Saturday Night Live castmates keeps him laughing the most outside the studio.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Jonas Brothers’ Hey Jonas podcast, the late-night host shared details about several group chats he remains part of with former SNL colleagues. Among them is a conversation that includes Andy Samberg, Fred Armisen and Bill Hader.

When asked who stands out as the funniest texter, Meyers had a clear answer.

“I will say the funniest texter independent of a group: Fred Armisen,” Meyers said.

The comedian explained that Armisen regularly sends unexpected messages that arrive without any context. 

Recalling a recent example, Meyers said, “Would not surprise anybody, just got — with no context — a Happy Father’s Day message from him, but it was a voice note [and] he was Homer Simpson. Just talking a lot about how he hopes I got donuts for Father’s Day.”

Meyers also opened up about another chat that serves a different purpose. 

The television host said he stays connected with former Weekend Update co-anchor Amy Poehler and Late Night with Seth Meyers producer Michael Shoemaker through a group conversation they call “The Tripod.”

“We’re ‘The Tripod,’ the three of us,” Meyers shared. “That’s sort of a lovingly supportive one.”

Meyers spent more than a decade at Saturday Night Live, serving as a cast member, head writer and Weekend Update anchor between 2001 and 2014. His latest comments offer a glimpse into the friendships that have continued long after his time on the iconic sketch-comedy series.
