Anshula Kapoor stuns in sindoor red saree at wedding reception
She completed the outfit with traditional jewellery, including a kundan and pearl choker, matching earrings and gold bangles
After her wedding with Rohan Thakkar, Anshula Kapoor made her first public appearance as a newlywed at their reception in Mumbai. She chose a sindoor-red outfit that reflected the beginning of her married life.
Instead of wearing a traditional reception gown, Anshula selected a custom outfit designed by Amit Aggarwal. The designer transformed a Banarasi brocade saree into a modern corset-style silhouette while keeping the beauty of the original fabric. The look featured detailed embroidery, metallic borders and a flowing drape.
She completed the outfit with traditional jewellery, including a kundan and pearl choker, matching earrings and gold bangles. Her hair was tied in a neat centre-parted bun, while her makeup remained soft and elegant.
Sharing pictures from the reception on Instagram, Anshula explained why she had chosen the colour red.
“For our cocktail, I knew I wanted to wear red.It is my first evening as a married woman, celebrating this new chapter and somehow sindoori red felt like the only colour that made sense”, she wrote.
“When Amit and I started talking about the outfit, one thought kept coming back to me - I wanted it to feel like a metaphor for who I am.Starting with a Banarasi brocade sari, @amitaggarwalofficial deconstructed and reimagined it into a sculptural corseted silhouette, preserving the beauty of its original drape while transforming the pallu into a contemporary couture statement,” Anshula wrote.
“It honoured tradition without feeling bound by it. And I think that's exactly what this entire wedding has been about. Holding on to where I come from while wholeheartedly embracing everything that's ahead,” she added.
“And I think that’s exactly what this entire wedding has been about. Holding on to where I come from, while wholeheartedly embracing everything that’s ahead. Thank you Amit for creating something so deeply meaningful and to @mohitrai & @ruchikrishnastyles for helping bring this vision to life,” Anshula concluded.
Anshula and Rohan got married on July 6. Their reception, held a day later in Mumbai, marked the couple's first appearance together after the wedding.
