Salman Khan posted two photos and one word on social media, and that was honestly enough.

The caption just read MAATRUBHUMI. No trailer, no teaser, no big announcement. The post features only Salman, a cowboy hat, a sleeveless black vest, ripped jeans and some seriously misty green hills in the background.

In one photo he is seated, head slightly bowed, hand near his face, looking almost meditative. In the other, he is leaning back with his eyes closed, completely at ease.

The rolling mountains and cloudy sky give the whole thing an almost cinematic feel. And yes, fans noticed the biceps too. 

The 60-year-old still looks like he could headline an action film without breaking a sweat. 

Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace has been building quiet buzz for a while now. The film started life as Battle of Galwan before being renamed, and director Apoorva Lakhia explained why. 

Speaking to Hindustan Times, he said, "Changing the title may feel sudden to SK sir's fans, but it was never an overnight decision. From the start, we had registered two titles: Battle Of Galwan and Maatrubhumi. 

As we went through the journey of making our film, we realised it was never just about a battle. At its heart, the film is about humanity, empathy, and the silent battles our soldiers fight." 

Produced by Salma Khan under Salman Khan Films and directed by Lakhia, the film also stars Chitrangada Singh in a key role.

The road to release has not been entirely smooth. The film was originally supposed to come out in April, then got pushed back. 

Reports recently claimed it had run into trouble with the CBFC, but the production house shut that down quickly, saying in a July 4 statement that the film has not even been submitted for certification yet and that such reports were "entirely baseless."

An Independence Day weekend release in August has been floated around, but nothing's been officially confirmed yet.
