Sanjay Gupta recently came out in support of Diljit Dosanjh’s Satluj after its IMDb rating disappeared, calling the platform “bogus”.

The 56-year-old filmmaker, known for directing hard-hitting Hindi films, criticised the platform following the recent development.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, he penned, “Rated 9.5 till yesterday. Gone today. Not that I ever trusted or believed in IMDB ratings. But this proves how bogus they are.”

In a similar vein, Satluj co-writer Niren Bhatt spoke at length about the challenges the film has encountered.

During his conversation with Hindustan Times, he explained, “We didn’t know when the film was going to be released, and we didn’t even know when it was taken down. And now this IMDb rating… we don’t know who had a problem with it, what the problem was, or why. There was simply no communication.”

This comes on the heels of the biographical drama being removed from the streaming platform ZEE5 just two days after its premiere.

The report claimed that ZEE5 was directed to take down the film due to security concerns and obligations under the Information Technology Rules, 2021.

Directed by Honey Trehan, Satluj stars Diljit Dosanjh, Arjun Rampal, Jaswant Singh, and several others. The film premiered on ZEE5 on Friday, July 3.
