Lin-Manuel Miranda has commented on his race against Taylor Swift for the Best Original Song at the Academy Awards.

Both artists are hoping to receive a nod from the Academy for their soundtracks for their respective works.

While Taylor dropped her song I Knew It, I Knew You, for Toy Story 5, Miranda is competing with his music for Moana.

The 46-year-old’s track Along the Way dropped just a month after the Toy Story instalment hit theatres in June.

Addressing their Oscar race, Miranda spoke to People sharing his hopes for the award season.

He said “I love Taylor, and I love that song. I though her song for Toy Story 5 was really fun.”

“Listen, when you’re writing for characters, you’re not thinking about the Oscars. You’re thinking like, ‘How on earth do I pull this off? How can it feel honest and true?’ And I think she did a wonderful job doing that in Toy Story 5, and I was really proud to do that for our film.”

Moana hits theatres on July 10.
