Vijay's long-delayed final film Jana Nayagan may finally have a release date in sight, and fans are understandably excited.

The film marks the actor-turned-politician's final screen appearance before fully committing to his political role as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, which is exactly why fans have been waiting this long and this eagerly.

However, things got messier in April when the HD print of Jana Nayagan leaked online. Investigations followed, and the key suspects, including the alleged mastermind, have since been arrested.

There is still no official announcement yet but an X post by an overseas film distributor  has posted something believed to be the release date of the action drama.

The Canada-based distributor, York Cinemas, posted on X on July 8, hinting at a July 24 theatrical release. "Finally! Our Own Thalapathy Vijay is ready to set the big screen on fire with #JanaNayagan. Canada Release by York Cinemas. Igniting screens from July 24. Get ready for the ultimate theatrical celebration. Stay tuned for tickets," the post read.

That has set off a fresh wave of buzz around the film, which was originally supposed to hit theatres back in January 2026 before getting stuck in a prolonged certification battle with the CBFC.

Reports now suggest the makers have complied with all the changes recommended by the board, and the censor certificate is expected to be issued by Friday.

Once that process is done, an official release date announcement is expected to follow. 

Overseas distributors have apparently already been asked to prepare for a July 24 release, though some reports also mention July 23 as a possibility depending on distribution plans.

However, there are no official words from KVN Productions yet.

Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj and Mamitha Baiju among others.
