Rohit Sharma dismissed for golden duck in Vijay Hazare Trophy clash vs Uttarakhand

Just two days after smashing a blistering 155, Indian captain Rohit Sharma faced a “shocking golden duck” during Mumbai’s Vijay Hazare Trophy clash against Uttarakhand on Friday.
The Sawai Mansingh Stadium, packed with fans who arrived as early as 6 AM, fell into a “stunned silence” as the star opener was dismissed off the very first ball he faced.
The dismissal occurred in the opening over when Uttarakhand’s 25-year-old pacer, Devendra Singh Bora, bowled a short-pitched delivery. Rohit, attempting his “trademark pick-up pull shot,” failed to get the desired connection.
The ball ballooned toward deep square leg where Jagmohan Nagarkoti “held on to the catch on the second attempt” after nearly dropping it.
Reports indicated that a large section of the crowd began leaving the stadium immediately after the “Hitman” started his long walk back to the pavilion.
Social media clips of the dismissal quickly went viral as fans debated the “cruel balance of cricket” that saw a veteran in “sublime touch” fall for zero.
Despite the early jolt, Mumbai stabilised their innings through Musheer Khan and Sarfraz Khan.
This match likely marks Rohit’s final domestic appearance before he leads Indian in the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand starting January 11.
