Camila Mendes is embracing uncertainty as she prepares to marry fiancé Rudy Mancuso.

The Masters of the Universe star spoke candidly about her outlook on marriage during an appearance on On Purpose with Jay Shetty on Monday, July 27. Mendes and Mancuso got engaged in October 2025 after he proposed during a surprise engagement party.

Reflecting on how her parents’ divorce shaped her perspective, Mendes admitted she once felt pressured to make all the “right” decisions to avoid the same outcome.

“I’ve gone through some things recently that have basically shown me that like, you just can’t predict anything. Like, you just don’t know what’s gonna happen in life,” she said. “Life will throw s--- at you, and then you’re gonna have to deal with it.”

The Riverdale alum explained that she had become “obsessed” with choosing the “best partner” in an effort to prevent divorce, but eventually realised that mindset was unhealthy.

“That’s not a healthy way of approaching relationships,” Mendes explained. “I think you need to sort of accept this and surrender to the possibility that anything can happen. Like, you really don’t know. And in a way that’s sort of like liberated me.”

She added that accepting the possibility of divorce has actually given her greater peace of mind.

“I like trust myself enough to say, ‘You know what? That could happen. I could get divorced one day and I’ll be okay. I will be okay because my mom was okay and my dad was okay.’”

Mendes credited therapy with helping her release the need for perfection, saying she is learning to “let go” and instead focus on doing her best in each moment.

“I can surrender to this idea that no, I’m just gonna do my best at every moment. And whatever happens, happens.”
